Tingatinga
Mr. Mlaiponi of Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, a descendant of the great
Mlaiponi... Founder of the Tinga Tinga style of Art!.......The Mlaiponi
group of artists, famous for their style of art in East Africa have
won International Art Awards! Tinga Tinga style of Art is very popular
in East Africa ...and has won International Awards, some of their
work is now sold worldwide. 
This style of Art was founded by the Late Edward Saidi Tinga Tinga,
of whom I was fortunate to meet with his nephew Issa Monde Mlaiponi,
who was born in 1958 a son of the great artists sister, who upon graduating
elementary school in Nachingwea region Southern Tanzania in 1975,
went to his older brother and started learning the style of art for
about three years, before producing his own art, this is a family
business and the group is now called The Slipway group as they work
out of the hotel Slipway in Dar-Es-Salaam.
Art by Issa who is married with two children a boy Hemed Issa Mlaiponi
and a girl Zainabu Issa Mlaiponi is now displayed at our shop ZIZINI.
