MAY 6th 2007: NAACP JOSEPH D DALUZ “ UNSUNG HEROES AWARD- This is the NAACP’s most prestigious award and is given annually to the “Unsung Heroes” in our Cape Cod communities. To be eligible for this award, the following criteria must be met:
- Community Involvement
- Length of Service
- Personal Contribution
- Leadership
- Role Model
This award comes with a plaque that reads “ NAACP Cape Cod branch , in appreciation of the services and contributions made by Allan E. Shaidi in the field of business for the betterment of mankind”
Allan E. Shaidi was born and raised in Kilosa, Tanzania. In 1985 he received a degree in Hotel Management from Kenya Utalii College and worked in the tourism business for 10 years. Allan immigrated to the United Sates in 1992 with two of his sons Elangwa and Willie. He is also the father of Janet and David who remained in Tanzania.
Five and half years ago Allan’s life long dream of being self-employed began taking shape when he started selling arts and crafts from his mother land at craft fairs. After two years of traveling the fair circuits, Allan, with help from his partner Nancy Burke, opened Zizini Arts and Crafts on Main Street in Hyannis, May 9, 2003.
The dream has now grown into taking American investors to Tanzania and opening a Tourism business.
Allan has been instrumental in raising community awareness of modern day slavery, of the beauty and potential of Africa, fair trade, and the need for sustainable economic solutions to the poverty of the world. He has also helped raise funds to end slavery. Allan is on the Board of Cape Cod Immigrant Center, the Tanzanian American Investment Forum incorporated based in Houston, and advisory board of the Hope in Tanzania Foundation.
Allan’s heartfelt gratitude goes to the many community members who have been supportive of Zizini’s efforts and philosophy through the years as he anxiously looks forward to their valued continued involvement.

September
2006:
Zizini Safaris goes hand in hand with promoting the
beautiful crafts of the people from the environs of
our natural attractions. In collaboration with the Tanzania
Tourist Board, we participated in the 92nd St. Y Festival
in New York City. At this prestigious outdoor show we
were able to promote Tanzanias Tourism to over
300,000 Festival visitors. We are also proud to say
that Tanzania is the first African country to participate
in this event!
During
this excursion to New York, we had the honor of being
invited to a dinner with the President of Tanzania,
Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. President Kikwete was once again
visiting the United States, this time with a large delegation
of business and government executives who are looking
for collaboration and direct investments for Tanzania.

March
2006: We embarked on
the early stages of Zizini Safaris the first subsidiary
of Zizini , Inc. As you already know, it has been a veritable
lifelong passion for Allan Shaidi, the founder of Zizini,
to promote tourism to Tanzania. Over the years, we have
made many friends and influenced countless people to visit
Tanzania and its neighbors and we now aim to do it with
more vigor, hence we teamed up with a long time friend,
Mr. Edwin N. Waluye, as our Director of Tourist Operations.
In April we went to Tanzania on a fact- finding mission
to lay the ground work for our Safari Company. Edwin returned
to the USA in May.
The President & CEO of Zizini, Allan E. Shaidi, then
proceeded to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Congo, and Kenya
and back to Tanzania before returning to the USA in June.
As a result of this extensive and productive trip, Zizini
Arts and Crafts now carries a variety of products from
all these countries. Together with the beautiful and authentic
arts and crafts from South America that we also proudly
carry, we are expanding the reach of our philosophy, Helping
to find sustainable solutions, into a global concept. |

February
2006:
As in previous years, Zizini participated in the events
of Black History Month at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute
and the Harambee Celebration. Then in March, we took part
in the Multicultural Festival at the Cape Cod Community
College. What a wonderful way to allow our winter-bound
community to experience some warmth!
It is also the month that Zizini progressed from a sole
proprietorship to a corporation! In this way, we believe
that Zizini will be much more effective in fulfilling
its mission of Helping To Find Sustainable Solutions

January 21:Charity begins at home! and when many people's memories are begining to fade about the worst natural disaster in our recent history that hit the homes and businesses of our beloved New Orleans, the young women and men of Tabor Academy in Marion, under the charismatic leadership of Mike Lombardi organized a Jazz Festival to raise funds for the victims of this calamity named Katrina. I thought the most outstanding legacy they showed us is that they still remember and care enough to take action. Gathering musicians from as far away as California, there were five bands in total; "Four Guys in Tuxes","The Bodhi Tree", "The Romana Borthwick Quintet", "The North Street Connection" (An amazing students Jazz band!) and " The Robert Gastelum Latin Jazz Collective". Students were able to raise more than $4,000 at this event . All proceeds will benefit victims through the New Orleans Teach for America Disaster Relief Fund, New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund, Touru Infirmary Foundation and New Orleans Public Library Foundation. ZIZINI's contribution was through Allan's Art titled "When Music Made Colors" it sold! ........
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!........2006!
We wish you and your loved ones a peaceful prosperous and healthy new your filled with harmony and promise !!! |

2004: We launched our campaign to help raise funds
for the american anti slavery group, this organization
is based in Boston, Allan reads Francis Bok's Book "
Escape from Slavery" a personal story of how Francis
was abducted into slavery at the tender age of seven until
when he escaped! this moving story is what caused Allan
to think of a way to help, and thus the beginning of "Art
against Slavery" whereby Artists from Africa joined
together to sell their Art and donate proceeds from the
sale of their Art to the American Anti Slavery Group!
.... This campaign supports both the Artists and raise
vital funds needed to emancipate humans in bondage and
build awareness on this issue. |
